Most parents try to support their child with homework. Homework should enhance student learning by providing opportunities to consolidate classroom learning as well as developing time management skills. The school’s position on homework is this…
Homework should be ‘owned’ by the child and his/her teacher. Sometimes children may need guidance in organising their time to enable them to complete their homework. Further, we ask for parents to provide a suitable place as well as set up a routine, that they monitor and encourage efforts and participate where appropriate for example with home reading and number facts. The school strongly encourages daily home reading, revision of sight words and number facts.
Each teacher will set a homework schedule for their class. Homework should not be something that is laboured over and nor should it take too long. Please feel free to talk to your child’s teacher for further information.
